Energy Systems

For this task, you will focus on energy systems that convert MECHANICAL energy into ELECTRICAL energy.

Mechanical --> Electrical

  • Hydroelectric dams
  • Wind turbines (wind mills)
  • Wave action (tidal) turbines
 

Identify the Problem & Ask Questions

What information should be included?

1. Title Slide

  • Name of energy system
  • Name of region/country you have been assigned
  • Your name

2. How it Works

  • Labeled diagram of system 
  • Description of how it works with energy conversions identified
  • Identification of environmental needs of the system (i.e. reliable tides, constant sources of sunlight, etc.)

3. Pros and Cons

  • Reliability (pro OR con)
  • Economic impact: cost to build, cost to maintain (pro OR con)
  • Environmental impact (pro AND con)

4. Aesthetics

  • Google Slides are neat and attractive

5. List of Sources Used (Bibliography)

     

    Finding Specific Information on a Webpage

    To find specific information on a webpage, search for a specific word by using the Control and the F key.
