We wear shoes just about every day.  Have you ever stopped to look at a shoe through the lens of an artist?  Of a designer?  Of an inventor?

  • Shoes/footwear worn around the world
  • Shoes/footwear worn in the past
  • Shoes/footwear made, but never intended to be worn
  • Shoe/footwear exhibits in museums

Assignment Specifics

What image/model will inspire your shoe sculpture?  Make sure to locate and print three different views of the shoe you plan to create.

    Search Strategies

    • Locate and search appropriate resources
    • Vary search terms (don't use the same search terms over and over again)
    • Think of synonyms
    • Use Boolean searching
    • Use "quotation marks" to search for exact phrases
    • Be creative

Conduct a broad search (such as 'shoes' or 'sneakers') and then a narrow search (a designer's name or the name of a specific shoe).

When you use someone else's words, work, thoughts, and/or ideas, you need to give the person credit. It doesn't matter whether you quote the person word-for-word or put it in your own words (paraphrase), you need to acknowledge where the words, work, thought, or idea originated. Otherwise, you are passing it off as your own.

      Be responsible.

      Be honest.

      Show integrity.
